Girls on the Run andamp;#8212; Sierras enrollment open now

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Girls on the Run andamp;#8212; Sierras is gearing up for another great season. This life-changing, nonprofit prevention program for girls in the third through eighth grade starts Sept. 8 in Incline Village, Nev. and Sept. 12 for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. Girls on the Runandamp;#8217;s mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running race with healthy-living education. The program instills self-esteem and strong values through health education, life-skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training – all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.Girls on the Run andamp;#8211; Sierras is in its fifth year and scheduled at seven North Tahoe/Truckee sites.andamp;#8226; Girls on the Run for TTUSD third, fourth and fifth grade girls will be offered afterschool Mondays and Wednesdays at Glenshire Elementary, Truckee Elementary, the Boys andamp; Girls Club in Kings Beach, and Rideout Community Center beginning Monday, Sept. 12.andamp;#8226; Girls on the Run for Incline Village, Nev. third, fourth and fifth grade girls will be offered afterschool on Mondays and Thursdays at Incline Elementary beginning Thursday, Sept. 8.andamp;#8226; Girls on Track for sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Alder Creek Middle School in Truckee and the Boys andamp; Girls Club in Kings Beach beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13.Girls on the Run andamp;#8211; Sierras is open to all Truckee-Tahoe community girls enrolled in third to eighth grade. Girls on the Run andamp;#8212; Sierras is a life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls age 8 to 13-years-old in the Tahoe Truckee Community.
