Give Back Tahoe nonprofit giving campaign launches for holidays

Stacy Caldwell and Michael Gelbman

TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — It is no secret that this place is special. Tahoe inspires, heals, convenes and provides. With the clarity of our lakes, the epic winter and summer terrain, and our fresh mountain air, Tahoe attracts an array of visitors, second home-owners and the lucky ones who can call this place home all year round.

There is a culture here, not unlike our environment, that is rich, unique and welcoming. We place high value in our natural resources and our interaction with the outdoors.

Our community is flexible and open, recognizing that our visiting neighbors and part-time homeowners are just as much a part of our brilliance as are furry friends. We believe in taking time to linger to catch up with a friend at the post office, we greet people with smiles along a hike, and we traverse the aisles of the Safeway knowing that this is a part of the experience of living here.

The holiday season is upon us. This is a time of reflection and gratitude. It is a time of open arms, open hearts and generosity. It is a time when many of us eagerly and thoughtfully share our treasures with others. Food, wine, service, and charity. What an amazing season.

During this holiday season, as you consider who and what means the most to you, we ask you to consider Tahoe. There is so much to celebrate about this place, and there are many nonprofit organizations that protect, steward, and care for it all.

In today’s newspaper, you will find a 32-page special insert announcing the “Give Back Tahoe Giving Guide,” a collaboration between the Sierra Sun and Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation.

Inside, will find 60 nonprofit organizations that are deserving of your charitable giving. Collectively, our giving can make a big difference in the lives of our Tahoe families, in the environment, in education, and in our cultural experiences.

Together, the Sun and TTCF have partnered to promote our nonprofit community. We hope you will be inspired by what you see and feel compelled to give through our online platform at givebacktahoe.org/.

By using this site, together we can see how every dollar helps and builds to a bigger regional impact. Won’t you consider joining us and being a part of something big and entirely generous in Tahoe?

Stacy Caldwell is CEO of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. Michael Gelbman is publisher of the Sierra Sun and North Lake Tahoe Bonanza newspapers. Visit givebacktahoe.org learn more about Give Back Tahoe and to donate.
