Glenshire Elementary School selling green music CD

Celebrate the evergreen of winter boughs and#8212; put green CDs on your holiday shopping list.

and#8220;Let It Spin!and#8221; is a CD full of songs celebrating the earth produced by Glenshire Elementary students from kindergarten through fifth grade. They aim to teach all the big and little children on our planet how to take care of the earth.-

Compositions include covers of songs by Joni Mitchell, The Indigo Girls, Ritchie Havens, Xavier Rudd, The Banana Slugs Band and Tom Chapin with some lesser-known but equally talented musicians.-

and#8220;Let It Spin,and#8221; is written by Sarah Weeks, a New York City singer, songwriter and childrenand#8217;s book author. Ms. Weeks was gracious enough to let the youngsters use her song without charging copyright fees. When asked if she would let them use her song name for the title, she replied, and#8220;Be my guests!and#8221; She was thrilled with Glenshireand#8217;s rendition of her tune.

CD sales will help cover the costs of copyright fees and production costs. Any profits will go to the Glenshire Elementary School Music Department. With state funding waning, any help in maintaining the quality of instruments and sound equipment is welcome.-

Most importantly, Glenshireand#8217;s gift to the community of Truckee is this beautiful disc of childrenand#8217;s voices singing the praises of our earth. What better time to enjoy it?
