Good job, Truckee police

The last few months these pages have seen a variety of local opinions about the effectiveness of our new police force, and its increased presence on the streets.

While some may feel the department is overzealous at times, a bit overstaffed, and sometimes too quick to hand over a ticket or make an arrest, there is no denying that drug dealers are suffering thanks to the TPD.

This week saw the arrest of a 56-year-old man, and the confiscation of 14 grams of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as 7 ounces of marijuana at a West River Street home. That’s a lot of cocaine, methamphetamine and pot that will not be on the street, and one less suspected drug dealer in our town.

No matter how we feel about the Truckee Police Department, most agree that drugs are a bad thing for a community like ours, and it is a good thing that someone is doing something about it. Good job, TPD.
