Good Morning Truckee | Adventure sports events and their economic impact

TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; February is National Heart Month, so the Feb. 14 Good Morning Truckee will discuss heart-healthy adventure sports events, their ability to draw visitors to the area, and the economic impact they have on businesses and sustaining a healthy local economy.The Truckee-Tahoe region is a sports mecca. There are a multitude of athletic events that take place year-round. Good Morning Truckee will hear from just a few including:Todd Jackson of Big Blue Adventure LLC. Todd produces the Donner Lake Triathlon in addition to the Truckee Running Festival, Lake Tahoe 36 Hour Adventure Race, Tahoe Big Blue, the Tahoe Trail Running Series, and the Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike Race.Ronnie Ayres will talk about the Donner Lake Memorial Standup Paddleboard Race. According to WHAT-SUP Stand Up Paddleboarding, this is the fastest growing water sport in the world and there are nine standup paddleboard events in our area between May and September.Pam LeFrancois will talk about The Great Ski Race, the main fundraising event for the Tahoe Nordic Search andamp; Rescue Team. The 36th annual event will be held March 4 and is one of the largest Nordic ski races west of the Mississippi, typically drawing more than 1,000 racers.Talking about The Tevis Cup 100 Miles One Day Ride, one of the worldandamp;#8217;s best tests of true horsemanship, will be Matt Scribner. Traversing the scenic wilderness of the Sierra Nevada mountains from east of Squaw Valley to Auburn, this endurance ride has roots as far back as 1955.For last-minute Valentineandamp;#8217;s Day shoppers, there will be great raffle prizes donated by Dorindaandamp;#8217;s Chocolate Caf, Bluebird Design Custom Jewelry, and a floral arrangement.Good Morning Truckee is a community forum presented by the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce to provide timely and relevant information on a variety of topics and create a networking opportunity.Good Morning Truckee is open to the public andamp;#8212; everyone is invited.
