Shopping in Truckee this holiday season just took a turn toward the fantastic. The Artisan’s Marketplace has opened its doors in the Blue Victorian in Brickelltown. This gallery represents a co-op of 14 talented local artists and is filled to the brim with amazing handmade treasures.

From the whimsical offerings of Ursula Hamimowitz to the precision hand-knit creations of Rebecca Maidman’s Rivka Designs, the brilliant fired-glass and elaborate quilts of Cathy and Linda Strand, to the earthy, sacred beauty of Ann Thennes’s gourds and medicine pieces, the shop is teeming with excitement and one-of-a-kind gifts.

The shop boasts two jewelers: Beth Wilson who designs her Isabel Mirabeau brand and Toni Rockwell brings in her bold fired-glass pendants. Ceramic creations are provided by two gals from the foothills: Rene Sprattling and Marsha Rafter. Chrisi Donovan brings interactive, themed, furniture art.

See and feel the passion for the mountains and the people who live there captured in Kevin Klein’s dynamic photography.

And the excitement keeps coming with multi-talented artist Joanne Corso’s hand painted cards, watercolors, acrylics, oils and silks. Corso will be in the marketplace on weekends for sit-down, on-site portraits.

With Dave Carpenter’s Tahoe Mountain Soaps and Holly Beatie’s High Sierra Botanicals, there’s plenty of pure, natural, Earth friendly goodies like essential oil scented soaps, body creams and lotions. For information call (530) 401-8917 or (530) 448-1999.
