CALPINE, Calif. and#8212; After more than six months of painstaking remodeling and repairs, the Sierra Valley Lodge in Calpine is officially re-opening for business Saturday, June 19. The restaurant and bar will open at 3 p.m., with a menu featuring prime rib from the award-winning chef as well as steaks, seafood and pasta dishes.

To celebrate the Grand Reopening, Sierra Valley Lodge will hold a and#8220;Meat and Greet BBQ Partyand#8221; Friday June 18, beginning about 3 p.m. The BBQ party will give the community a chance to come out and meet the new owners and staff before the official opening the following day. Complimentary burgers and hot dogs, along with appetizers and salads will be provided and the bar will also be open. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy good company and good cheer to celebrate the completion of the remodeled and revived Sierra Valley Lodge.

The new owners include two brothers, Charles and Roy Gundeid, and Steffan Gundeid, Charlesand#8217; oldest son. Charles and Steffan own and operate the Restaurante Pizzeria Capri in Sonoma, Calif. Roy Gundeid has been a master diamond cutter and jeweler for more than 30 years, with two jewelry stores in Norway and an on-line diamond marketing business. Royand#8217;s son Oliver is a graphic designer, responsible for the IT and web design for the Lodge.

Charles and Roy were both born in the United States to Norwegian parents but the family moved back to Norway when Charles was seven and Roy was six. Charles moved back to the U.S. in 1991 and became a contractor before opening the restaurant in Sonoma. Roy remained in Norway but made frequent trips to the U.S. with his family to visit Charles and his family.

The Sierra Valley Lodge gave the two families a chance to re-unite with a common purpose in the beautiful Sierra Valley. Charles, Roy and Steffan are excited to have this opportunity and look forward to serving the finest prime rib, steaks and specialty selections available anywhere in the Sierra.

Chef Paul Sorensen, Service Manager Dee Dee Huebert and Group Sales and Bar Manager, Ossi Korkeila and all of the staff look forward to seeing you at the and#8220;Meat and Greet BBQ Partyand#8221; on Friday June 18.
