Have we a proposition for you " spamless no less

Jamie Bate

If you’ve ever read a newspaper article and thought to yourself, “That reporter ought to have interviewed me,” well then, we have a proposition for you.

In the next few days the Sierra Sun will launch a Reader Advisory Board. But this isn’t the traditional type of readership board whose members troop into a room, sit around for an hour or so, slurp lukewarm coffee, scarf stale donuts and heap praise on the editor (yeah, right). While that has worked well ” except for the heartburn and the praise parts ” for newspaper editors over the years, people’s lives are busier than ever. And, frankly, you can only fit so many bodies into a room and drink bad coffee for so long.

To reach as many readers as possible, we’re firing up an electronic advisory board that will be open to readers of the print-and-ink Sierra Sun and sierrasun.com. Interested folks will simply be able to register by using their e-mail.

Don’t worry, we won’t spam you or use your e-mail address for any other purpose ” promise.

As a member of our advisory board, you’ll be asked your opinion on news-related issues, stories and what you may or may not find useful in the paper. Ultimately, we think this Reader Advisory Board will help us diversify the pool of people contacted by reporters for stories.

At its heart the Sierra Sun is a community newspaper, and we want to go straight to the source when we’re reporting and writing stories ” the people of this community. So stay tuned and I’ll let you know when and where you can sign up to become part of the Sierra Sun Reader Advisory Board.
