InnerRhythms 2011 Summer Dance and Performing Arts Camps

TRUCKEE and#8212; InnerRhythms will offer summer camps of many kinds. All camps will be held at InnerRhythms Training Center, 12047 Donner Pass Road (in the Citizens Bank Plaza), Truckee. Kids Irish Dance Camp

June 27-30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., ages 7-12, tuition (includes a memory picture CD) $150



Introduce dancers to various styles of beginning Irish step dance, including soft shoe and hard/heavy shoe dance pieces. Learn traditional and contemporary solo and group pieces, history. Last day of camp will include a student performance and a and#8220;wee bitand#8221; of a Ceili (an Irish dance party). Taught by Clarissa Waugh.

Beginning Irish Dance Workshop



June 25, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 12-adult, tuition $40 in advance

Taught by award-winning Irish Step Dancer Clarissa Waugh with special guest instructor, Champion Irish Step Dancer and Teacher Roisin Robson, from the Tir Ruaidh Irish Dance Company in Southern California.

Four-Week Mini Camp for Mini Dancers

Every Tuesday and Thursday, July 19-Aug. 11, 1:30-4 p.m., ages 4-6, tuition $225, drop-in students $30 a day. Please notify the studio 24 hours in advance for drop-in.

A mini camp with a different theme each week, including: Join the circus, Broadway day, jungle safari, mermaid adventure day, cowboy hoe-down, and beach boogie. Snacks and drinks provided. Taught by Nora Beauchamp. Pick up from Discovery Preschool is available.

Week-Long Mini Day Camp for Mini Dancers

July 18-22, 1:30-4 p.m., ages 4-6, tuition $125

Campers will explore movement through ballet, jazz, tumbling, face painting and crafts, take home a souvenir book. Taught by Nora Beauchamp. Pick up from Discovery Preschool is available.

Performing Arts Camp and#8220;The Wizard of Ozand#8221;

Every Tuesday and Thursday July 12-Aug. 4, 2-5 p.m., ages 8-14, tuition $300

A hip-hop dancing Tin Man, a jazzy Scare Crow, and their talented dancing friends will star in this production. Acting and dancing skills will be used in short musical play on the last day. Instructors Ryan Curren and Padma Rothchild.

Hip Hop and Breakin’ Camp

July 11-15, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., ages 7-12, tuition (includes a camp DVD) $200

Ryan Curren, director of RhythMatriX and hip-hop instructor at InnerRhythms will be teaching a camp focused on hip hop, and breakin’. Campers will make a video, plus perform a show on Friday at an in-house performance/video viewing.

Glee Dance Camp

July 25-29, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., ages 7-11, tuition $275

Dance and sing along to the music of Glee! Campers will put together a performance for parents. Dance styles will include jazz, hip-hop, and ballet. Camp will also include arts and crafts, student choreography, and games. No previous dancing or singing experience necessary. Taught by Padma Rothchild.

Intermediate Summer Intensive

Aug. 1-4, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., ages 11-14, tuition $150

Dance Improvisation for Performance: Three-Day Workshop

Aug. 12-14, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., ages 12 to adult, tuition $125

Playful exploration into improvisation and contact improvisation as tools to create fresh, spontaneous, choreography. Working to understand what it takes to dance/improvise as a group while honoring ones individual movement language
