Join Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care’s 30th Annual Training Seminar

Special to the Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE – Only a select few have the opportunity to help raise an eagle, a Western Gray Squirrel or a River Otter. There are state and federal laws prohibiting the “average” person from doing so.

However, as a trained volunteer with Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, you would work with these wild creatures, and more, under the permits issued by California Fish and Game and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Annually, LTWC cares for more than 700 wild birds and animals with the number one goal of releasing each one back into the wild.

Learn to be a wildlife rehabilitator at the two-day training seminar Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29. The cost per person is $60. For families of two or more, the first family member is $60 with each additional member $40.

If caring for wild birds and animals is not your thing, then maybe you would like to volunteer to help transport the wildlife from the north shore to LTWC located in South Lake Tahoe. There are numerous jobs which require volunteers, in addition to working with the wildlife.

For volunteer opportunities, visit http://www.ltwc.org, or call LTWC’s Executive Director Cheryl Millham at 530-577-2273 to obtain a registration form.
