Join the Truckee Donner Historical Society Old Timer’s Picnic
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Truckee Donner Historical Society is hosting their 31st annual Old Timers’ Picnic and Truckee Reunion on Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Truckee River Regional Park. Bring in your own lunch and some lawn chairs and enjoy the beautiful day. You do not have to be an “Old Timer” to attend this event! Bring your family up to the park and learn about Truckee’s history. Members of the TDHS research team will be there to answer questions and take research requests. There will be local experts on hand to answer industry specific questions. Tom Macaulay, the “Reno Ice Man,” is the leading expert on the ice harvesting industry. Susan Lindstrom, local archeologist, has been involved in numerous archeological and historical digs and studies in the Truckee Tahoe area. They have generously offered their time and experience to share what they know with all of us. Sherry Jennings will also be there signing her new book, Truckee. TDHS will have historic photos and books on local history for sale. This event is free to attend and we encourage all to come up and learn more about our local area. Questions? Call Chelsea Walterscheid at 530-305-4231 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
