With so many visitors coming to the Truckee-Tahoe area for the holidays, it pays to make New Year’s Eve plans early, especially if reservations are required.Dragonfly, at 10118 Donner Pass Road #B, will prepare a special four-course dinner for New Year’s Eve with seating from 5 9 p.m. The dinner will include a choice of teasers, appetizers and entrees and will come complete with a glass of Champagne and dessert. Cost will be $80 per person and reservations are required.For those not looking to spend a lot of money partying on New Year’s Eve, the Blue Coyote Bar & Grill, at 10015 Palisades Drive #D, will have party favors, a midnight Champagne toast and dance music from 10 p.m., all with no cover charge.Moody’s Bistro & Lounge, at 10007 Bridge St., will celebrate New Year’s Eve in style with the George Souza Quartet playing in the lounge and a $20 cover charge at the door. Head down to Moody’s and get your tickets early if you want to go, as Moody’s reputation as the best place to hear live jazz in Tahoe is sure to mean a packed house on New Year’s Eve.Across the street at the Bar of America and Pacific Crest Restaurant, at 10042 Donner Pass Road, the kitchen will be turning out their normal menu with an extra helping of three or four seafood specials throughout the holiday season. On New Year’s Eve, the Bar of America will bring in Global Funk to pack the dance floor and free noise makers to ensure that everyone goes home deaf to start 2005.Pianeta Ristorante, at 10098 Donner Pass Road, will offer a special prix fixe New Year’s Eve dinner with early bird seating before 6:45 p.m. and everybody else after the first wave has finished.
