Lace up your running shoes and support local mentoring in Soda Springs

SODA SPRINGS and#8212; Runners, walkers, children and adults will soon have the chance to support mentoring in the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee area while experiencing the beauty of the Sierra Nevada. On Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe will host the inaugural Fun Run for Littles at Royal Gorge resort.

Runners and walkers will have the option of taking on either a 5K or a 1-mile course laid out on the beautiful, groomed trails at Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort in Soda Springs, Calif. Children are welcome and encouraged to join in the fun.

There will be a registration fee for all participants, but in an effort to support this event as a fundraiser, participants are encouraged to collect pledges either online or in person. All money raised will go directly to support mentoring in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee region.

Registration will take place from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Royal Gorgeand#8217;s Summit Station, with the race 10 a.m. – noon and a barbecue and celebration at Ice Lakes Lodge in Soda Springs, noon – 2 p.m. Registration is $25 for adults in advance or $30 day of, and $15 for youth under 12, which includes food and refreshments after the race.
