Letter to the Editor: A farewell to a farewell

Frank Wright wrote “A farewell to Bill Horn” opinion in the Oct. 28 issue of the Bonanza.

I found that farewell message distasteful. But, that’s “freedom-of-speech” for you. It is sad that two dedicated gentlemen should conclude their years of service with this send-off.

Mr. Fuller was elected twice and served honorably, most capably and diligently for eight years. Mr. Horn selflessly and tirelessly dedicated 13 years of his life to our community — a difficult task at first, considering he was preceded by two GMs who apparently put their future financial wellbeing before the welfare of the community.

The author of the farewell column made a number of statements which seemed to repeat previous statements made by him and another resident. As in the past, most of the comments were somewhat confrontational in manner and could be considered by many as financially misleading.

A different tactic might have been useful. I hope that both these residents are satisfied with their actions. As for the community, they responded last fall by not electing either of them to office.

Now that the writer has voiced his opinions, using such flattering terms as “pathetic” and “spin-master” and “good riddance,” maybe he will choose to “lighten up” — although I doubt it.
