Letter to the Editor: Good paying local jobs are available

I suspect that the recent economic slowdown, particularly in the construction industry has left a lot of Truckee, North Lake Tahoe folks short of cash and looking for full or part time work.

The U.S. Census Bureau will be hiring hundreds of thousands of workers over the next two years to conduct to 2010 census. There will be plenty of good, local jobs paying $15 to $18 per hour plus a generous mileage allowance for the minimal use of your personal car.

Most jobs will be 20 to 30 hours per week with most of the work done on your own schedule allowing many people to keep their current job. Some work is usually required on weekends and evenings when people are likely to be at home.

Interested persons should call toll free 1-866-861-2010 for information. Call immediately, as the hiring has already started.
