Letter to the Editor: It’s not Mother Nature’s fault

This is in response to the story in Page 1 of Friday’s Sierra Sun (Nov. 29, 2013), and particularly to the sub-heading: “When Mother Nature refuses to cooperate, Tahoe resorts take to making snow to ensure a good winter season.”

The story begins, “When Mother nature is stingy with the snow…” My heart weeps over the reckless disregard of Mother Nature’s gifts to us and our insistence to satisfy or every whim and wish no matter the ,destruction we continue to impose upon our great Mother.

I argue that we are guilty of being uncooperative and downright abusive, not Mother Nature, and further, that we are the stingy ones. Despite our ongoing self- indulgent behavior at Her expense (and ultimately our own), she continues to offer us chances for redemption that we choose to completely ignore.
