Letter to the Editor: Signature remorse

There has been a lot of effort to recall three members of the Truckee Tahoe School Board. There are two sides to every story but what is becoming evident is that some folks who signed the recall petition are having second thoughts about the wisdom of a recall at this time.

These folks are asking how they can and#8220;un-signand#8221; the petition.

Apparently when folks have asked to have their name removed by the signature collectors, the and#8220;collectorsand#8221; have been telling people and#8220;Oh! We will put a star by your name and the registrar of voters won’t count your nameand#8221;.

This not true. If you want your name off the petition you must send a written note to the registrar of voters or appear in person at the voter registration office. This request must happen and#8220;beforeand#8221; the petitions are turned into the registrar of voters.

To get ones name taken off the petitions is really easy. Send three notes, one for each of the petitions (Beverly Ducey, William Kraus, and Kristy Olk), to the Registrar of Voters in your county saying you wish to have your name removed from petition. Give the registrar your name and physical address.

Please note the addresses below if you have changed your mind and wish to save the School District up to $100,000 for this special election in these tough times.
