Letter to the Editor: Squaw, Tahoe communities shine

Squaw Valley is a special place in our sport with a culture unlike any other resort. With its Olympic history, exceptional staff and energized fans, Squaw Valley is a one-of-a-kind, world class community that never fails to deliver a memorable event.

In the months leading up to the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships, Squaw Valley elevated the stature of the event to a new level. This resulted in record-breaking crowds cheering on the athletes each day.

Hundreds of kids turned up daily to watch their heroes vie for title of national champion. Squaw Valley provided a venue that was perfect for the event’s many memorable moments especially for local heroes like Travis Ganong, Tim Jitloff and Julia Mancuso to win titles. The crowds only grew larger as the event continued because of outstanding regional media coverage.

Squaw Valley delivered an incredible, historic Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships that will be held up as an example for years to come. Squaw Valley President and CEO Andy Wirth and the Organizing Committee under the leadership of Kyle Crezee brought together a truly exceptional event.

On behalf of our athletes, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to Squaw Valley and the local community for an outstanding U.S. Championships weekend. Thank you for making this such a memorable event.
