Letter to the Editor: Stop paid parking

I fully agree with the outrage voiced by the woman from Quincy regarding the charge for parking in downtown Truckee. I have been a property owner for 40 years, a homeowner for 27 years and a full time resident of Truckee for a number of years. Truckee has done some good things and some bad things since incorporation, but clearly the worst decision has been to begin charging for parking downtown … Since the parking cost system was installed, the number of times I have done business downtown can be counted on one hand. Sadly, the ones suffering are those other downtown merchants and business owners that opposed that poor decision. And now we know that it is not just the many locals that think it was a lousy decision. The smartest thing city management could do now would be to stop the program.
