Letter to the Editor: The Writer (a poem)

Pat Forbes
Truckee

The Writer sits

And thinks in craze

Of all his fits

And untamed rage

What he writes

He can erase

But the memories

Of love and pain

Will sit and rot

In the Writers brain

Smoke some pot

Ride the crazy train

The poem remains

Untouched

Untamed

For the words in the poem

Were like the lions mane

Though it can be shaved

It will grow again

He walks the road

Now dust and grain

He walks it alone

A shadow of Cain

That night he wrote

Of the loving bind

For the poem never dies

Not in the Writers mind
