Letter to the Editor: Top-notch care at Tahoe Forest
If communities were judged by the quality of care received in their local hospitals, we might just be considered the greatest community on the planet. My recent battle with lymphoma required that I spend 5 1/2 days in the ICU at Tahoe Forest Hospital every third week for chemo treatments. There were six treatments total. There were also some emergency room visits, and I ended up having surgery during the middle of all of this.
I believe I spent close to two months in the hospital when all was said and done. The care I received was phenomenal. Highly skilled, compassionate individuals (who have a passion for their work that is truly unparalleled) took exceptional care of me. Along with my time in the hospital, I was also being cared for by the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center. Their staff is top notch, and the facility is top of the line.
I felt so incredibly fortunate to be cared for at both remarkable facilities, by professionals who are truly the best of the best. I’m thrilled to say that I am cancer-free as we speak. None of us knows what the future holds, but I do know that we are so blessed and lucky to have such amazing medical care in our community.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped to save my life! I am overflowing with gratitude.
