Letter to the Editor: Why local teachers support Livak and Mohun
On Nov. 4, our community will have the opportunity to vote on two seats for the local school board of Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. The local teachers have endorsed and support Kirsten Livak for the region two seat and Lisa Mohun for the region four seat. These two candidates are committed to our community and care deeply about our schools. Both have children in our schools and have actively been involved with Parent Teacher Organizations and School Site Councils as well as athletic and other programs. They are honored to be endorsed by the teachers and want to work hard if elected to the board to build cooperative relationships within this district so that our schools can continue to succeed where they are doing well and improve in areas where they are weak. They understand that this agenda takes the efforts and collaboration of many different constituent groups and requires a board that is willing to communicate effectively with these groups, listen to their input, and then make tough, but informed decisions. They also are concerned with the current boards management of our tax dollars as they continue to prioritize funds for expanding administration despite decreasing enrollment and continue to hire and spend our money on a plethora of outside consultant groups. So, when voting this November please join your local teachers in supporting Kirsten Livak and Lisa Mohun for School Board. Change is inevitable but directing that change is in our hands.
