Patricia Hamilton: Living side by side with wildlife
Regarding the memorial for our Tahoe Vista bear, I stayed home. Not because of hate, but because of sadness.
If what I have heard is true, this man has lived here for 40 years. So, he would know not to leave food in his car and also not to leave it unlocked. If it had been someone that just moved up here and was just plain ignorant and stupid, it wouldn’t be OK, but understandable.
We live in a small community so who knows what is the real story. But still, to set a trap for a mother and her three cubs, and say you got the “nuisance” bear is appalling. Do the math. I have lived here for well over 40 years and I still don’t understand why people live here if they can’t accept living side by side with all of our wildlife.
