Local campground in top 100 for the country

Logger Campground located at Stampede Reservoir on the Tahoe National Forest was recently selected as one of the top 100 family campgrounds in the United States.

The selection was made by ReserveAmerica, a recreation reservation and campground management service for thousands of campgrounds across the country. Almost 3,000 campgrounds were reviewed before the final list of 100 was determined. The selection criteria used was based on “family friendly” criteria such as educational programs, visitor centers, campground amenities, and natural beauty and scenery.

“Logger Campground is the flagship of our campgrounds on the Tahoe National Forest,” said Joanne Roubique, Truckee Ranger District ranger, in a news release. “Over the last five years we have made substantial improvements to the infrastructure of this campground including new tables, fire rings and toilets, in addition to making nearly 10 percent of the 252 sites accessible. We are very proud of this award.”

Logger Campground was nominated by California Land Management, a private company that operates the campgrounds on the Tahoe National Forest under a special use permit.

Logger Campground has long been a popular destination on the Tahoe National Forest. Located on the banks of Stampede Reservoir the campground offers access to lake and stream fishing, a variety of mountain biking and hiking trails, and other outdoor activities.
