LUNAFEST to benefit Girls on the Run and#8211; Sierras

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. and#8212; LUNAFEST, a film festival of diverse shorts from around the globe by, for and about women, is returning to Squaw Valley Dec. 8. Like in past years, attendees will enjoy inspiring, uplifting, funny and poignant short films, while sampling cuisine from top local Tahoe-Truckee area chefs and wine from California wineries and#8212; all while supporting local and national charities benefiting girls and women.

The LUNAFEST films range from animation to fictional drama and cover topics relating to womenand#8217;s health, motherhood, body image, relationships, cultural diversity, breaking barriers and more. The films are selected by an outside board of advisors comprised of notables in the film industry.

The evening will be emceed by Squaw Valley President and CEO Andy Wirth, and will also include silent and live auctions featuring treasures from a variety of companies.



All proceeds from LUNAFEST are donated to charity: 85 percent of profits for the Squaw Valley LUNAFEST will go directly to Girls on the Run-Sierras, a local charity that instills confidence in young girls, and 15 percent goes to LUNAand#8217;s primary cause partner, the Breast Cancer Fund. Strong supporters of Girls on the Run and#8212;-Sierras also join in for the event and cause, including Squaw Valley, Wells Fargo, a third year sponsor, and Canyon Springs.

More than 150 LUNAFEST festivals take place across the U.S. and Canada. Squaw Valley LUNAFEST Benefiting Girls on the Run and#8212;-Sierras attracts attendees from across Northern California and Nevada, as the only area LUNAFEST festival.



Tickets are $35 in advance at http://www.girlsontherunsierras.org/lunafest and at Wild Cherries in Truckee, or $39 at the door. Tickets include cuisine sampling, wine and the film screenings.

Girls on the Run and#8212; Sierras is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls age 8-13-years-old in Tahoe and Truckee.
