TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; Members of Tahoe City Martial Arts Academy recently attended the WTSDA Region One Championship and Black Belt Testing. This year the event was held at John Asquagaand#8217;s Nugget in Sparks, Nev. Participants came from California, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Patrick Cerceau, a third degree black belt and chief instructor at Tahoe City Martial Arts Academy reflected on the outstanding results obtained by area students: and#8220;I am extremely proud of the spirit in which our students performed. Not only did they end up with a lot of podium finishes but they presented themselves with pride and honor in a professional manner.and#8221;

Tahoe Cityand#8217;s Taylor Lewis was awarded certification for her first degree black belt along with students from schools throughout the region. Certification is awarded following a one year probationary period after having participated in a grueling physical test and challenging written test. The testing board consisted of master instructors ranging from fourth to sixth degree black belts, including Dr. Tim Schroeder who has taught Tang Soo Do locally for years. and#8220;It was a pleasure to award the black belt certification for Ms. Lewis. She is an asset to the community as a top notch martial artist and we look forward to her continuing as an instructor in our program in Tahoe City. She fought hard for this achievement and has been with our studio for over 10 years.and#8221;
