Tell me about your history in Tahoe.I moved to Tahoe when I was 3, from Guam. And grew up here, loved it. Moved away for college. And now Im back.Whyd you come back?Lack of options. So youve found opportunity in Tahoe? Its been my interim destination since school. What are your thoughts on being a local? You need to spend some time here and get yourself a Subaru with a Keep Tahoe Blue sticker on it. Whats the best part about working at a coffee shop?Free coffee and chocolate croissants.Gotten to know a lot of people through coffee shop?Yeah, comes in handy working at the town water hole. Like when you need your driveway plowed.Whats the biggest difference between living here now and when you were in high school?Feels like a totally different town. Hanging out in Kings Beach vs. growing up in Tahoe City. Just a different vibe.So youre going to start teaching at Kings Beach elementary; what are your thoughts about the dual-immersion program?I think its great because the schools teachers support it so much, so it seems like everybodys excited about it parents, teachers, students.Planning in to stay in Tahoe for a while longer? At least through the summer, and then well see. I can see how people get stuck here.Headed to a warmer climate after this?Warmer or more populated yes. The Sierra Suns Julie Brown interviewed Garrett for this weeks Meet Your Neighbor.
