Miss Teen Truckee to compete for title

Miss Teen Truckee Nicole Buckhouse will be representing Truckee at the Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant March 23-25, at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine.Buckhouse will be judged in the following categories: Achievements & Activities, Personality & Presentation, and Poise & Appearance. She will be competing for the title of Miss Teen California.The winner will receive an $8,000 scholarship to the university of her choice, an all-expense paid trip to the Annual Miss Teen United States Pageant in Florida, and a prize package.Buckhouse is 18 years old and a senior at Tahoe-Truckee High School. After graduation, she hopes to attend the University of California at Berkeley, and to one day work for the FBI as a criminologist.Buckhouse is an honor student with a 3.95 grade point average, co-editor-in-chief of the high school yearbook and is the secretary of the S-Club (Service Club). She is also employed part-time at Dansk.The Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant is the oldest state teen pageant for young women in the state. It has been honored many times for its professionalism and for contributing thousands in college scholarships to outstanding young women.Over $60,000 in college scholarships and prizes will be awarded at the state pageant.
