Squeeze In’s and#8220;Best Omelettes on the Planetand#8221; challenged to and#8220;Throwdownand#8221; with Bobby Flay when Food Network surprised Reno/Truckee’s restaurant
Best omelettes on the planet? Yep. Tasty enough for a and#8220;Throwdownand#8221; with world-renowned chef Bobby Flay? Definitely.
The 107 quadrillion omelette possibilities didn’t scare away Food Network’s and#8220;Throwdown with Bobby Flayand#8221; held at the Squeeze In’s historic location in Downtown Truckee and it’s newest location in Reno, Nev. Flay dropped in on Squeeze In owners Gary and Misty Young and Shila and Chad Morris with a surprise all-American omelette and#8220;Throwdown,and#8221; the first of its kind in the region.
Misty Young, who is not usually at a loss for words, could barely say a thing when her daughter pointed out Flay at the Squeeze for a Throwdown.
and#8220;Bobby started out cooking omelettes, so he came full circle,and#8221; said Misty. and#8220;We are incredibly fortunate to be found by Bobby and the Food Network. What an honor for the Squeeze In and Truckee.and#8221;
Set to air on Food Network, March 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, and#8220;Throwdown with Bobby Flayand#8221; featuring the Squeeze In highlights just why so many people travel hundreds of miles (and cross state lines) for one of the Youngs’ omelettes. Misty took Flay’s challenge, whipping up the Squeeze In’s 300,000th #37 Racy Tracy, the most popular omelette on the menu, packed with avocados and mushrooms sauteed in a white wine sauce and folded in with crisp bacon and Monterey Jack cheese. Flay’s creation is top secret until the program airs, but the Squeeze In has created a tribute omelette dubbed the and#8220;Spanish Flayand#8221; that debuts March 4.
The nearly double entendre name was suggested by a guest, and the omelette combines finely diced red bell pepper, finely diced potatoes seasoned with smoked paprika sauteed in butter. The egg mix heightens the flavor with salt, pepper, garlic and parsley. Fold in Monterey Jack cheese and viola, it’s a Spanish Flay.
and#8220;There will be other surprises on the new [March 4] menu as well,and#8221; Misty said. and#8220;But not the prices!and#8221; Squeeze In has consolidated food purchasing and will pass on savings to the customers for two very popular items.
In and#8220;Throwdown,and#8221; Chef Bobby Flay issues surprise challenges to cooks renowned for a specific dish. While the contestants believe Food Network wants to exhibit their stellar cooking on a special episode, Bobby practices the dish in question and then drops in to issue a culinary Throwdown. Excitement heightens as expert judges perform a blind taste test to determine a winner.
