Slightly more than 200 students graduated from Tahoe Truckee High School on Saturday, making the leap into a new world with a lot of unknowns.
The ceremony kicked off with the National Anthem, sung by senior Owen Smith. Truckee High Principal Mike Finney welcomed family and friends of the students in attendance at Surprise Stadium.
There were presentations by salutatorians Nick Echols, Sam Sterling and Conrad Thompson and the class of 2005 valedictorians Camille Gannam and Kim Quesnel.
Several community organizations and businesses presented scholarships to individuals. This year, more than $100,000 in local scholarship money was awarded to Truckee High students who plan on furthering their education after high school.
