North Lake Tahoe business associations announce ‘Shop Local Contest’
TAHOE, Calif. and#8212; Shop locally and win prizes! Support the North Lake Tahoe business community this holiday season by participating in the 5th Annual Shop Local Contest. Shop from Thanksgiving week through Christmas to New Yearand#8217;s Eve for a chance to win the Grand Prize, a Tahoe Daveand#8217;s $500 Gift Certificate and other great prizes from local businesses and organizations, including tickets to 2012 North Lake Tahoe events.
Itand#8217;s easy. Pick up a Shop Local Contest Card and start shopping. For every $20 spent at participating retailers, youand#8217;ll receive a sticker for your contest card. Every purchase gets you closer to winning. Contest Cards will be available at businesses throughout North Lake Tahoe by Nov. 23. Participating businesses are listed at http://www.northtahoebusiness.org, http://www.visittahoecity.org and http://www.visitinclinevillage.com, along with details and holiday event listings. Check back often as new businesses may be added throughout the season. Turn in your contest cards by Dec. 31 at the locations listed on the card and you will be entered into the raffle. Drawing winners will be announced in early January 2012.
New this year, contest cards with 13 stickers or more will be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing for a Tahoe Daveand#8217;s $500 gift certificate. Non-winning contest cards from the Grand Prize drawing and all other contest cards with three or more stickers are eligible to win additional prizes.
When you shop locally you help the North Lake Tahoe economy, help keep independent shops in business and find unique gifts for everyone on your list. And, think of the gas money youand#8217;ll save. Researchers have proved for every $100 spent in independently owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain, only $43 stays in town. Spend it online and there is no benefit to your community.
Call the Tahoe City Downtown Association at 530-583-3348 or the North Tahoe Business Association at 530-546-9000. Remember and#8230; shop locally, win prizes and#8230; and benefit your community.
