North Lake Tahoe scores Sunchaser challenge

NORTH LAKE TAHOE and#8212; The North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus and Chamber of Commerce recently secured the Sunchaser Challenge, a multi-discipline adventure challenge set for May 22 at Northstar-at-Tahoe in Truckee.
and#8220;Having 1,000 competitors descend on North Lake Tahoe for three days translates into a potential $2 million in economic impact for the area,and#8221; said Tourism Director Andy Chapman of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. and#8220;That is absolutely great news, especially given the time of the year that this event is scheduled to be held.and#8221;
The Sunchaser Challenge is a sporting event from sunrise to sunset that features orienteering, running, mountain biking, road biking and kayaking. It will be held in four time zones across the United States May 22, including Lake Saranac in New York, Lake Geneva in Wisconsin and Lake Havasu in Arizona in addition to North Lake Tahoe, as part of Endangered Species Day. According to race officials, approximately 1,000 competitors are expected to participate in each of the four event venues.
and#8220;We looked for distinctive locations to hold this special challenge,and#8221; said Event Producer Sarah Poole of Wild Ones Promotions. and#8220;Having scouted Lake Tahoe on a recent visit, we knew it would be a perfect site. We also had the opportunity to work closely with the North Lake Tahoe tourism team during this trip, including the conference, leisure, event and chamber staff, who pulled out all the stops to not only show us unique locations and lodging accommodations, but helped us partner with local resources and talented race directors to ensure that the Sunchaser Challenge will be a great success.and#8221;
The North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus and Chamber of Commerce are both currently working in partnership with Wild Ones Promotions at the local level to bring access to sites for competitors to undertake the competition disciplines, secure various permissions needed for facilities and logistics, as well as coordinate safety components associated with servicing the participating athletes.
Wild Ones Promotions is a media and events production company created to promote sports and adventure events, which support social responsibility campaigns and generate new fund-raising opportunities for charities. In partnership with the Endangered Species Coalition, Wild Ones is launching these unique adventure challenges across the country to encourage people to get closer to nature by exploring the parks and countryside in their backyards, as well as aim to put the plight of some of the worldand#8217;s rarest animals in the minds of thousands of people across the United States.
