North Tahoe Arts classes announced

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; North Tahoe Arts is offering two classes at 380 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City.

Create a Flower

Flower corsages are all the rage right now. Learn the basics of creating a flower with ribbon and a needle and thread. These can be worn in your hair or pinned to a scarf or jacket. The instructor, Nancy Olson, is a wearable art artist who sells her work at many haute couture studios and at North Tahoe Arts (NTA) Artisan Shop. This introductory class will be Thursday, Sept. 29, 1-4 p.m. Tools and supplies are available from the artist. Fees for the class are $20 for North Tahoe Arts members and $25 for non members plus a materials fee of approximately $10 based on the size and number of projects completed. Holiday Card and Gift Printmaking Workshops

Sue Gross will teach two printmaking classes on Saturday, Sept. 24 in the Corison Loft at North Tahoe Arts. Sue is a printmaker and illustrator who lives in Tahoe City. She has illustrated two childrenand#8217;s books, and#8220;Iand#8217;m a Big Sisterand#8221; and and#8220;Iand#8217;m a Big Brother,and#8217; both the recipients of the 2006 iParent Media Award. She exhibited her work in the North Tahoe Arts (NTA) Artisan Shop for several years and had a studio this summer on Lake Forest Drive where she taught classes and sold her work.



In the morning workshop, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., Sue will teach how to make beautiful relief block printing cards adding collage and other mixed media. This method allows more cards to be printed at home. In the afternoon workshop, 2-4 p.m., sheand#8217;ll teach intaglio etching gift prints which is scratching designs into a Plexiglas plate, inking the plate and then printing the plate on the printing press. Both are simple, chemical-free methods. The cost is $45 for non-members and $40 for members. If you take both workshops you get $5 off. Price includes all materials.

Participants should bring an apron or smock to protect their clothing and some ideas (photograph or drawing) to the workshop. Workshops are for adults and teens ages 15 and up and are limited to eight people in each workshop. You donand#8217;t have to be an artist to try this fun medium. No walk-ins, please. There is a minimum of three students required per class.
