North Tahoe Arts I Solstice Photography winners announced in Tahoe City
TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; North Tahoe Arts announces the Professional and Amateur Photographer winners of the Wine Walk and Solstice Photography Show and Competition. In the Professional category, Geoff McGilvray won with his photograph and#8220;Winter Sunset, Sand Harbor.and#8221; In the Amateur category, Lucy Isbell won with her photograph and#8220;Colorful Boulders and#8211; Paige, AZand#8221;.
The judges considered and#8220;Winter Sunset Sand Harborand#8221; a technically overall excellent photograph, and the composition well done. They appreciated a nice use of sunburst with golden light gracing the scene. They complemented the photographer capturing the right moment in time. This piece can be seen at Boatworks Mall in Tahoe City by the Games shop. Geoff’s award is a marketing exposure package offered by Tahoe Quarterly Magazine and includes the publishing of the work of the winning photographer featured in a future Tahoe Quarterly and#8220;Thru the Lensand#8221; section. The winning image will be included along with the artist’s contact information, a brief story, as well as an ongoing online Directory listing connected to both Traveler Magazine and TQ digital and touch screens/mobile applications.
The amateur winner Lucy Isbell’s piece is a fun abstract composition where you see more than just rock layers and texture. There is a feeling of petals of a flower. The photograph is well exposed in highlights for a difficult lighting situation. This photograph can be seen at North Tahoe Arts in Tahoe City. The Amateur award is a photography instruction package from award-winning professional photographer Jim Kass of Baricolor in Tahoe City.
The judges were Scott Thompson and Niobe S. Burden. Scott is the owner of Scott Shots Photography, located in Truckee. He creates fine art prints of many different subjects including landscape, scenery, lifestyle, abstract, sports, performance photography, and more. His photography services include advertising and marketing photography, architectural and real estate photography, virtual tours, and stock photography. Niobe is involved in the commercial realm of photography. She shoots fine art images as well as conceptual advertising but handles photography shoots for everything from architecture and jewelry to executives and annual reports.
