North Tahoe youth march to be drug-free

North Tahoe middle and high school students invite the community to march with them through Tahoe City Saturday morning.

The Youth in Action Drug and Alcohol-Free March will take place beginning at the sheriff’s department and move to Commons Beach ending with a barbecue and activities.

Officials from both the Placer County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol will be along for the rally and speaking on drug and alcohol issues.

Youth in Action is a coordinated effort between North Tahoe eighth- through 12th-grade students, the local community and law enforcement to resolve issues of underage drinking and illegal drug use.

Registration for the march begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at the sheriff’s station. Those who donate $5 to Youth in Action will receive a T-shirt and choice of wristband or water bottle.
