North Tahoeandamp;#8217;s music series hits high notes

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; North Lake Tahoe takes its music outdoors with a variety of concerts, headliners and festivals andamp;#8212; all part of the destinationandamp;#8217;s High Notes andamp;#8212; North Tahoeandamp;#8217;s Summerlong Music Series, running June through September. The lakeandamp;#8217;s music campaign also has a new web site,, that covers all the events and ticketed performances.

Visitors to the countryandamp;#8217;s largest alpine lake will find free outdoor live performances every night of the week, except Mondays. Sundays rock out at Tahoe Cityandamp;#8217;s Concerts at Commons Beach. Itandamp;#8217;s Bluesdays every Tuesdays at the Village at Squaw Valley starting with John Nemeth July 5, and live music every Wednesday with Wednesday Music in the Park at the Truckee River Regional Park. Head to Commercial Row as part of Truckee Thursdays for live action, while Kings Beach is lakeside Fridays starting July 1. Squaw Valley is also home to the inaugural KT Tribute Concert Series, held the first Friday of July, August and September, free concerts held under the legendary peak of KT-22 and kicking off July 1 with STUNG andamp;#8211; A Tribute to the Police. The Village at Northstar does a variety of live music on weekends. Events and times are subject to change.In North Lake Tahoeandamp;#8217;s historic casino corridor, the Crystal Bay Club offers a host of free concerts throughout the week, as well as top notch ticketed bands from the Bay Area. What sets this venue apart is its intimate setting that gets guests up close to the performers.

There are also a number of fabulous ticketed musical events held throughout the region. In addition to its popular Shakespeare on the Beach, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival now provides a Monday music series, which is also held at the scenic Sand Harbor Beach State Recreation Area just outside of Incline Village. This summerandamp;#8217;s calendar is the best of the best with the Reno Philharmonic performing Broadway on the Beach July 18, Mumbo Gumbo Aug. 1 and Jelly Bread Aug. 15.Right on the picturesque Truckee River, River Ranch Lodge has its annual Summer Concert Series with Zepparella July 22 and Great American Taxi August 4.The Lake Tahoe Music Festival is one of the summerandamp;#8217;s must-attend events with a variety of musical performances, including Blues Traveler July 21, Colbie Caillat Aug. 4 and Michael Bolton Aug. 25 at the Village at Northstar.In addition to its free events, the Crystal Bay Club brings in ticketed performers, including Super Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute band, July 2, as well as Delhi 2 Dublin, July 16, that hosts gritty hip hop and electronic beats with traditional Indian influences and Celtic sounds. A localsandamp;#8217; favorite, 80s Dance Party Tainted Love, plays Aug. 13, with the andamp;#8220;Avant Cellistandamp;#8221; Zoe Keating on Aug. 18.The Robert Cray Band will perform Aug. 13 on the driving range next to the Trout Creek Recreation Center at Tahoe Donner in Truckee. The Grammy-award winning Cray is considered to be one of the most impressive vocalists and guitarists on the contemporary rhythm and blues scene.Squaw Valley USA has Big Head Todd and the Monsters playing Sunday, July 3 and admission is free.

The Village at Northstar hosts the annual Beerfest andamp; Bluegrass July 2 with more than 20 breweries and music with the Dead Winter Carpenters. There is also a complimentary shuttle to downtown Truckee and the Kings Beach/Crystal Bay area.Namaste in North Lake Tahoe this summer with the ultimate in yoga throwdowns as the popular Wanderlust Festival returns to the scenic valley of Squaw Valley July 28-31. In addition to yoga sessions and wellness programs, the event will also host the positive vibrations of Michael Franti and Spearhead, the electronic dance party mashups of Girl Talk and the ecstatic chants of Jai Uttal.
