Obituary: Jim Wood

Jim Wood

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Jim Wood was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on May 9, 1957. His parents moved their family out of the cold to raise him and his brother, in sunny Southern California. He spent his childhood and early adult years enjoying the beaches, and developing his unique sense of humor. During this time he found some of his lifelong friends. One winter when visiting family in South Tahoe he met his soon to be wife, Patty Wood. After they married and their son Kevin was born they moved up to the Tahoe area, to start their life together.

He loved many things including drinking coffee with friends at Wild Cherries, playing as much basketball as humanly possible, vacationing in Hawaii and Huntington Beach, watching the Lakers, tubing on the river, and spending as much time with his family as he could, before he passed away on Feb. 19, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Patty; his son, Kevin; his mom, Donna Jean; his brother, Terry; his uncle Richard, and many other family members and friends. For those that wish to join us, we will hold a memorial service in his honor on March 5 at 5 p.m., at the Truckee Rec Center gym. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Jim Wood Family Memorial Fund, at Plumas Bank.
