Obituary: Raymond J. McCullough

Raymond J. McCullough of Colfax, Calif., died on Nov. 21. He was 78.

Born on Feb. 19, 1922 in Roseville, Calif., he attended Colfax Elementary School and Placer High School. He was active in area Boy Scout Troops and was a volunteer firefighter for the Colfax Fire Department for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also served on the Colfax City Council from 1960 to 1970, including one term as mayor.

Raymond McCullough visited Truckee, Tahoe City and Kings Beach at least three times a week for 45 years due to his work as a car salesman. He had many close friends in the Truckee-Tahoe area.



He is survived by his wife Florence Y. McCullough of Colfax; sons Garland “Took” and Raymond “Sarge” McCullough of Colfax; daughters Sharon Long of Susanville, Patricia Rounds of Fresno, and Janet Cornell of Oregon; sister Aileen Anderson of Washington; brother Alvin McCullough of Roseville; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A graveyard service was held at Colfax Cemetery on Dec. 2.
