TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; This year, 15 Odyssey of The Mind student-led teams will travel from Truckee to Sacramento for a competition in which they will compete in a spontaneous problem and demonstrate a skit that solves a and#8220;problemand#8221; they have been working on for several months. Without the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Truckee and the Queen of Hearts, this program wouldnand#8217;t be possible for the eager students participating in the program. We are so thankful for these two groups and what they have done for us.

Odyssey of The Mind is an excellent program for children from elementary school to high school. Allowing students to practice and experiment with engineering in a fun and exiting way is just one fantastic characteristic of the program. Encouraging spontaneous thinking and teamwork, Odyssey of The Mind is an enriching activity for everyone! This year, some exciting problems have been presented to the participants. My team has taken on the and#8220;Ooh-Motional Vehicleand#8221; problem. In order to solve this problem, we have to create a vehicle that moves with two different power sources, travels forward and backward, and fits into a four-foot by six-foot space. Throughout the eight-minute skit, the vehicle has to display four different emotions while it weaves through an obstacle course and participates in a skit. No doubt it is a challenging task, but we are happy to say it has been coming along well. All of the teammates and the coach of our team are really enjoying this spectacular program.

Once again, on behalf of all the local teams the two groups have sponsored, thank you Rotary Club of Truckee and the Queen of Hearts!
