TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; OmStays is a comprehensive online resource that connects yoga travelers by offering affordable homestays and other complementary connections for traveling yogis. Find events, classes, studios and new friends wherever your yoga travels take you.

OmStays was founded in January 2012 by Incline Village resident Kathie Maxwell, who formerly owned and operated the now-shuttered Village Square Family in the Raleyand#8217;s Center.

and#8220;Itand#8217;s time to combine and embrace passion with community, time to grow up and reach out … finding that thereand#8217;s always time to laugh and play,and#8221; Maxwell writes on the Omstay website. and#8220;My greatest wish is that we can all enjoy traveling and practicing yoga together, in a manner that is sustainable, expansive, supportive, and fun.and#8221;

Have mat, will travel: affordable homestays

We know your mat isnand#8217;t grounded to just your home or local studio. Youand#8217;re often out in the world, traveling to conferences and festivals, or on vacation. OmStays facilitates the journey by offering affordable homestays that are a more eco-friendly, wallet-friendly, interactive, educational and enriching alternative to the traditional hotel.

Annual OmStays memberships are $35 and provide exclusive access to the homestay directory, which covers all 50 states as well as international locations. Members are hosts and guests creating an arrangement of reciprocity, with hosts providing a private room with a real bed for $15 per night.

With yogic principles like nonharming (ahimsa), truthfulness (satya) and compassion (karuna) at the foundation of our members, you can rest assured your OmStays-aided voyage will deepen your practice.

More than the homestay

In addition to homestay opportunities, OmStays provides a full range of complementary resources for both members and nonmembers. A comprehensive calendar of events features classes, retreats, festivals and conferences in the yoga world.

No more hours of Internet searching to find a reputable studio or teacher: OmStaysand#8217; studio directory and teacher directory connect you to the areaand#8217;s best. A volunteering page lists fulfilling nonprofit opportunities in regions you may be planning to visit.

And a community forum connects members regarding ride shares, pet sitting and garden tending so the OmStays community can help out while youand#8217;re away.

The OmStays blog, Blogasana, is yet another portal for yogis, providing travel tips, book and music reviews, recipes, yogic lifestyle content, yogi profiles, and coverage of our founder’s travels and homestays.

A Tahoe member base for Wanderlust attendees

With Wanderlust California just around the corner at Squaw Valley, OmStays would like to build its Tahoe membership to accommodate this influx of yogis to our area. Hosting for OmStays provides local yogis the opportunity to share our magical area with newcomers.

Join OmStays before Wanderlust California and you will also be entered to win a Boga Yoga Paddleboard courtesy of Boga Paddleboards!

Student, teacher and studio annual memberships are all $35. Homestays are $15 per night. Visit omstays.com to start your journey.
