One-Stop Business andamp; Career Center to reopen in Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The new One-Stop Business andamp; Career Center operator and several agencies banded together to reopen the Joseph Center office on Levon Avenue in Truckee.andamp;#8220;Reestablishing an effective presence in Truckee has been a priority,andamp;#8221; said Alison Lehman, director, Nevada County Department of Social Services. andamp;#8220;We look forward to providing an array of services with a focus on employment as well as information and referrals to a wide array of community resources.andamp;#8221;Once staffed, the Center will provide assistance to individuals and groups. Clients will be able to create resumes, search jobs online, practice interview skills, create a job search plan, understand the labor market and be aware of opportunities for internships, on-the-job trainings and special programs offered under specific grants. The goal is to have businesses post job openings and create a hub connecting job seekers to businesses seeking talent. Several agencies contributed resources to enable the Center to reopen including the County of Nevada, Department of Social Services; CalWORKs Public Authority; Sierra Nevada Regional Department of Child Support Services and the One-Stop Business and Career Center.andamp;#8220;Services to Nevada County residents will be more complete with the reopening of a resource like the Career Center,andamp;#8221; said Kathy Schmitz, CEO of the Job Training Center, who took over operations of the program last March. andamp;#8220;Both job seekers and businesses will have a local tool to access and gain assistance. We appreciate the contribution made by all of the agencies involved to make this happen.andamp;#8221;The Center will be open at the Joseph Center, 10075 Levon Ave., Truckee, five days a week, 20 hours per week. The One-Stop Business andamp; Career Center seeks a part-time career center advisor previous to reopening.
