More than four years ago, we bought a wildlife camera to place on our private property in Glenshire in order to verify the abundance of observed mule deer, and the uniqueness of “rare species.”

Thousands of pictures (including bird species) have been carefully journalized and submitted to local agencies of concern. Our time and years of effort was done in hopes of deterring the project known as Canyon Springs, proposed right next to Glenshire in eastern Truckee.

The area in reference faces east section of Canyon Springs next to our private property at Edinburgh Drive.

Our camera that was secured on our tree has mysteriously disappeared! The irony is that this happened after the hearing on Canyon Springs that took place on November 16-17 at the Truckee Planning Commission.

We had someone represent us by speaking on our behalf. We also had four large poster boards full of wildlife photos describing our physical address in relation to proposed Canyon Springs project.

Four photos also included “species at risk.” The reason for disclosing our address was so the legal team couldn’t dispute our findings and to verify we were not trespassing.

Our absence from the area for two weeks further added to the frustration of why would someone steal our camera. Who benefits from this absurd act? Only the person(s) unknown by us who achieved their obvious goal to stop us from further documenting this sensitive area that is littered with active wildlife.

So you had the audacity to trespass on our property, steal the camera (which, by the way, was expensive), and in the process had your picture taken! Unfortunately, the sim card in the camera that had hundreds of wildlife photos) is forever gone.

What a callous act, and to serve what purpose? The camera is a Moultrie M-880 digital game camera. A report to police was submitted.
