Opinion: Bonanza Q-and-A with NuLeaf was community-destroying
I read the article in the Bonanza from Jan. 21, “Serving the undeserved,” regarding the interview with NuLeaf COO Sean Luse, and I am extremely disturbed and upset by the biased, one-sided and unprofessional reporting of the NuLeaf clinic moving into Incline Village.
Starting with the headline, “Serving the underserved,” reporter Margaret Moran and the Bonanza provide no supporting backup and documentation for this statement.
Obviously, you did not take the time to investigate how many people will actually be “underserved” in Incline Village? There were no challenging or follow-up questions to the inaccurate, offensive and community destroying statements made by Sean Luse.
There is a significant portion of the community that has strongly opposed the opening of this business that went unreported. In one of the questions, you say there are “some concerns I’ve heard.” Well, there is extreme concern, and your reporting of this situation would have had better journalistic credibility had you reported on the hundreds of people who attended several Washoe County Commission meetings, met with commissioners as late as Jan. 20, and have submitted a petition to stop this business from opening in our town.
I question why you didn’t report on these meetings and bring forth the community’s concerns? You have heard “some concerns.” AMAZING journalism.
Please know that we will continue to fight the opening of this destructive and detrimental business to our community. We will be there to support our children, our families, our community.
I’d say, “serving the underserved” has to do more with the Bonanza not serving the community of Incline Village than anything else.
