Opinion: Canyon Springs will have negative impacts on Truckee
The Final Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Canyon Springs development has been released and is available for the public’s review.
The town of Truckee Planning Commission public comment session and final hearing regarding the decision for this development is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 16-17, from 6-10 p.m. both days at Truckee Town Hall at 10183 Truckee Airport Road, Truckee. The public comment session is primarily scheduled for Nov. 16.
Mark your calendar! The time has finally come to speak on behalf of the negative impact this development will have on Truckee as a whole — impacts to water quality, wildlife survive-ability, traffic and wildfire safety consequences, and for the consideration for protection of this property as public open space!
The long-awaited opportunity to voice your opinion and concerns for this development’s impact is upon us all. I’m sorry for your busy schedules and for the implications of missing Monday Night Football, but if your voice is not heard on this date, it will be unheard forever. The negative impacts of this development, if approved, will be ongoing; much like the rural sprawl it threatens to be.
