Opinion: Incorporating Olympic Valley will not increase taxes
Incorporate Olympic Valley (IOV) would like to reassure Vlado Bevc with respect to the concerns he voiced in his Jan. 21 letter to the Sun, “We do not need a town of Olympic Valley.”
Simply stated: The new town will manage resources and deliver services here more effectively.
Formation of a new town requires that the county be made “revenue-neutral” in the process. This is ensured through oversight by LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission) and negotiations with Placer County.
Incorporating the new town will not increase taxes (by law)! It will be financed with revenues already generated here.
Why make Olympic Valley California’s newest town? To enable self-governance and locally managed services for Olympic Valley residents, homeowners, visitors and the North Tahoe community.
