Opinion: IVGID board, attorney Jason Guinasso are incompetent

To say the least, there seems to be numerous problems with the way IVGID board trustees conduct their business and their responsibility to our community and compliance with the State of Nevada’s Laws and Statutes.

After reading the Feb. 10 Bonanza article, “Re-vote of IVGID’s officers likely after Open Meeting Law violation,” I was dumfounded at the arrogance of IVGID’s Legal Council Jason Guinasso and his statement that it boiled down to a matter of semantics, and that the “clear and complete” component of the Nevada Open Meeting Law isn’t clear itself since no legal definition exists for it.

There does not appear to be any doubt that a majority of IVGID’s trustees knew exactly what was going to take place at the August 26th meeting, and it was not clearly spelled out on the meeting agenda (which was cryptic to say the least).

Furthermore, Trustee Bill Devine evaded answering my direct question when asked if Chairman Jim Smith was to be demoted. While I may not have agreed with Chairman Smith on many issues, at least he obeyed the Nevada statutes and was respectful of community members.

I can only hope that there is further investigation by the Attorney Generals Office. Perhaps some of our trustees and the incompetent counsel Guinasso need to be found accountable for their actions, including potential legal and ethics violations.
