Opinion: New Tahoe Forest hospital CEO has large task ahead
I read the article in last week’s Sun about the new search effort for a permanent CEO to run the Tahoe Forest Hospital District. I am glad that there is a professional search for a new CEO from outside this area.
I am concerned that the Board was fooled so easily by former interim CEO Ginny Razo earlier this year, and earlier by former CEO Bob Schapper.
Many of the questions about the viability and quality of TFHD are yet to be clearly addressed. Anyone willing to look at this CEO position needs to be fully informed about the issues TFHD and the Board faced over the past year.
All candidates need a detailed overview of the situation, including the S&P report that states some of the financial weaknesses of TFHD.
The board cannot continue to treat TFHD like its own private company, because it is a public entity and transparency to the public is lacking. A new CEO will need to develop a transparent approach to gain community support.
The new CEO will also need to assess the entire management at TFHD to determine if changes are needed.
