Opinion: We do not need a town of Olympic Valley

In the Incorporate OV Foundation’s full page ad in the Sierra Sun, Friday, January 2, 2015, on page 10, advocates of Olympic Valley incorporation want another level of government — as if there is not enough of it telling us what to do already.

There is one thing that I wish someone could explain. OV Foundation claims incorporation will be “revenue neutral.” Is that supposed to mean that the new town will cost the taxpayers nothing more than what they are already paying in taxes?

Where will the money for running the new bureaucracy come from? I hope the voters have the good sense of voting against incorporation. We do not need more government.
