Other voices: Incline town plan needs information

About 200 people showed up to the Independent Incline forum Wednesday night at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, sponsored by the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza and the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.

When a group as large as the one Wednesday evening shows up to hear, debate and receive information about a topic, it shows that the idea of creating the town of Incline Village interests the Incline Village and Crystal Bay communities.

Wednesday evening also made another issue apparent. When the Bonanza polled various audience members about their reaction to the forum we received many similar responses:

That is a big problem, considering this item is on the Nov. 4 election ballot as an advisory question.

If there’s a majority vote, many on the Independent Incline committee are convinced this proposition will move forward, and the Town of Incline Village will be established on July 1, 2009, effectively dismantling the current Incline Village General Improvement District.

This assumption should come as vivid reality to this community, considering how many people seemed confused and misinformed following Wednesday’s panel discussion…
