Our View: Go Wolverines

Just last fall the Truckee High School football team brought home the state championship trophy – for the second year in a row.And now Truckee athletes are at it again. On Friday the girls varsity basketball team will take on Faith Lutheran out of Las Vegas in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association’s 3A State semifinal match. When – yes, we’re optimistic – Truckee sends the Vegas squad back home, they’ll take on either Lowry or Spring Creek high schools for the state title.Never before has a girls basketball team from Truckee played this deep into the state tournament. That’s pretty cool, and worth supporting.Check out the Sierra Sun’s sports section today for more on the Lady Wolverines. The squad has fought hard all season to post a strong 12-4 league record. Now they really have their work cut out.So wear your loudest red, round up your neighbors and head down to Spanish Springs High School in Sparks on Friday for the 3 p.m. matchup and help the Wolverines send their opponents back to Sin City.
